confused, secrets, cain, matt and gramms, shitless, niners, bff, dude, turtles, happy dave, yeah baby, coach and mrs. coach, pshaw, pensive, caindg
having a much better day.

I ... got my car back. And will survive til pay day. Which is more exciting because budget got passed and we got a raise! *cheers* a desperately needed raise in fact

I ... went to the fancy-schmancy hospital party on Saturday and drank wine and ate food and went out afterwards with some cool folks and played darts and drank beer and had an honest to goodness fricken night out. It's been weeks. It, too, was desperately needed.

I ... got chocolate! (and if that isn't just a highlight of life, I don't know what else is ...)

I ... understood lecture in class tonight (first time in the new quarter).

I ... figured out how to access my email through my control panel even though the domain is gone! Damn. I'm the most ig'nant webbie out there, but I figured it out! Not getting LJ notifications, but dang. I still feel cool.

I ... figured out how to burn programs from Bob the tivo to my DVR, so I can burn Sarah Conner Chronicles and the Masterpiece theater Austen series I'm addicted to, and take them to pet sitting houses and get my fix.

Okay, maybe not the most impressive list ever, but damn. Life is looking so much better today. And it's Monday! Maybe tomorrow will be even better!

Oh, sweet optimism. I missed you so ...

Those new JA adaptations are awesome, are they not? I'm in love with Northanger Abbey right now, though that might be because the last BBC production made me feel dirty and want to hide in a corner sobbing from the badness. Am watching S&S via youtube right now, but it is so similar to the Emma/Hugh/Kate/Alan version that it is rather dull. Persuasion was nowhere near as good as the book...

I was so excited about hours and hours of Austen films! And then I went to watch one only to find that Bob the Tivo deleted it already. Bummer! But I did get Northanger Abbey - yay gothic love! Usually I love BBC versions, but I think I'm going to stay away from their NA one. Did you see their Persuasion? It and their Mansfield Park were both good (although probably still nowhere near as good as the book ...)

Yes, the new NA was wonderful! I did see the new Persuasion - that's the one I was referring to when I said the book was way better. The new S&S got much better to the point where I was practically jumping out of my seat at the end. Haven't seen MP yet... that will be next.

I'm going to Stevens for some afternoon/night skiing some point this weekend. Let me know if you're up for it.

Persuasion is my favorite Austen book, so I was a bit reluctant to enjoy any video version. And the first time I watched it, I wasn't too impressed. But Amanda Root's Anne really turned me around. I'm a little nervous of the PBS version - especially if Giles is really Mr. Eliot. I'd be terrified that suddenly Bath would be a hellmouth and Miss Eliot an especially perky vampire slayer. :)

And DUDE! I'm so down for some Stevens love! I'm going to Crystal on Sunday - boycotting the Super Bowl for the first time ever (gasp!) but if you're heading north Friday or Saturday, count me in! :)

Oh, and I gotta point out that I'm responding to your very erudite icon with an icon straight out of Dude, Where's my Car? That is just so, so wrong ...
