I'm not the world's best LJ-er. Sometimes I go a week or more without getting online to check my flist. Sometimes I check it every day. And I love my flist! *pets you all* But community wise ... sometimes there's some slogging to do. Like this new community I joined. At first, there was great fic. Sure every once in a while you might get a crappy piece, but at least the odds were in your favor. But now, posting has slowed and there is one person who posts every day. Well, multiple times in a day. And it would be exciting if it was awesome, fun to read, well written stuff. But it's not (IMO). It's poorly characterized (gah! pet peeve right there) dreck, with awful grammar and is a bit cringe inducing overall.

Yikes. Okay, that sounds a bit harsh ...but true... I could just leave the community, but then I'll miss out on all the good stuff as no one in the comm is on my flist. Maybe I should just do it and truck to the comm to check for new posts of interest. I know boards often have a politeness caution about overposting. Do LJ comms ever have anything like this? Should I even ask the mod or just let it go? I don't want to cause any trouble ... but if it's bothering me it's probably bothering others too, right?

In completely unrelated news, today at work I wore my hair all sleeked back today with a little curly puff over a shoulder instead of my normal crazy fro - the horrors! But I got compliments! "Chic!" I somehow pulled off chic in scrubs! This is a true miracle. And yay! I have a new hairstyle! :)

All my fic comms require fics to be... um... it's way too late to be thinking. they have to be hidden, I guess, y'know where you click on the link and then it opens the fic. That way you can totally avoid having to read things by bad ficcers. and it keeps the flist from cluttering up.

She does lj-cut, so I guess that's something at least. It's more that each time there's a new posting in the comm, I get a little excited, and then when I see it's her, I get disappointed because I can't read anything she writes. Because it's all terrible. Worse than any NaNo inspired dreck. Srsly. :) (I am officially now a horrible person and will probably have a building fall on me tomorrow ...)

Maybe it is just me but if the person is posting WAY too much and the fic sucks, then you should fire a quick note off to the mod. Like hey, there is great fic in this comm but X is choking my flist by posting 50 fics a day. Is there anyway to limit the number of fics posted in a given day?

Plus, if the mod is smart, they will realize that by person posting X fics a day, it shoves other people's fics to the bottom of the pile, making it harder for those fics to be found.

Thank you! I was hoping I wouldn't sound too crazy/unreasonable. And it's kind of too bad , cause if she was posting great fic all the time, I totally wouldn't mind. I'd love it! But I just realized that she's cross-posting everything to two communities I'm a member of, and that's probably why I'm getting so grumpy. I'm going to drop one of the comms and see how much it helps. But if it's still out of control, I'm totally going to chat with the mod.

It's just amazing - I wish I could write that much and post that quickly. Instead everything I write recently ends up in a brick wall. *sighs mournfully*

I think I know whom you're talking about. And yes, I completely and 100% agree.

I somehow pulled off chic in scrubs!
